International Study Tour- Quenice

Today was a wonderful experience in Kumasi, Ghana. We visited Bonwire, a village where they make Kente clothe and it was beautiful. I had the opportunity to help out with the weaving and learn how the fabric is created. They really put a lot of heart and effort into their work. While in Bonwire, I traded many items for fabrics that I was interested in. It appears that there is a great love and respect for us and they are interested in our crafts and food. The people here are really great sales persons as they will do whatever it takes to get you to buy their products. They made me realize that there is a lot in the U.S. that we take for granted while there are people in other countries who do not have half as much.

!!!!! I am jealous, we are sitting at site on a very very cold evening and wishing we were there - I do at least because of the sun and fun I know you are having. Enjoy and come back with lots of pictures! Jasmine says ' heeey and have fun!"

I'm elated that each of you were able to learn the true meaning of this adventure. Yes it was a wonderful get-a-way, but most important you all learned a wealth of knowledge in addition to fun in the sun. This is an experience you can share with family/friends. My family and I enjoyed and appreciated the stories/pictures that you all shared. It was just as rewarding for us to hear and visualize. Again I would like to thank Mr. Ward for allowing the opportunity for our children to experience their heritage first hand and making it a memorable chapter in their lives.
