National Mentoring Month

The President and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted mentors and their mentees from across the country at the White House on January 20, 2010 to highlight the value of mentoring and to mark the 9th Annual National Mentoring Month. The campaign’s goal is to recruit volunteer mentors to help transform the lives of America’s youth. In his remarks Wednesday, the president states –“So there's no doubt about the value of mentoring. And there's no doubt about the tremendous need for mentors in this country -- with at least 15 million young people in need of a mentor. What we need now is for committed adults to step forward and help us meet that need.”
Among the invited individuals was College Bound partner Kiana Moore, an alumna of the College Bound program, Aleeah Sutton, a senior attending Montgomery Blair SHS, as well Kenneth Ward, College Bound Executive Director.
