On January 25th, College Bound students were hosts at the National Mentoring Summit at the Library of Congress herein Washington, D.C. The keynote speaker at the Summit, First Lady Michelle Obama emphasized the importance of mentoring and the power that we have to change American society through mentoring.
Following the First Lady's address, a panel discussion moderated by Special Assistant to President Obama and Executive Director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships Joshua DuBois featuring the U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Jr., the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, the CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service Patrick Corvington and Chief of Staff of the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs Mike Strautmanis highlighted their personal mentoring stories as well as the challenges and opportunities of mentoring.
