Love For College Bound

Love For College Bound

What our students, parents and partners have to say about College Bound...

What I love about College Bound is the many partner/student activities as well as Monday Night Site Meet. I truly enjoyed the presentation at Howard University "A Taste of College". The presentations were awesome and the session on Financial Aid for College was outstanding. My one-on-one communication with my son's partner and site director is priceless. College Bound has our students involved in Community Service as well as Preparation for College. Thank you so much also for keeping parents, students and partners abreast of the many activities and time-lines for SAT, Financial Aid, etc. and giving us options! What a blessing!

I love that you teach children how to become "better" scholars and lifelong learners.

I love that you have "awesome"mentors/professionals working with your program (especially Ms. Nyemia - she's the BEST!)

I love that you "expose" students to opportunities and schools - that they would not have done so on their own.

I love that you teach students "responsibility" and "obligation" to participate in weekly meetings and community service opportunities.

I love that you "inspire" scholars to be their OWN advocates.

I love that my daughter, Taylor, has become more "outgoing" because of your programming and her site position.

Last but not least, I love you Mr. Ward for being such a great teacher, mentor, ED of College Bound and friend.

I love the student to whom I was assigned, and I love Derrick and everyone at Cesar Chavez.
I love the structured program, with its expectations and clarity.
I love the program that exists beyond "site" -- events, the web page.
I love how Mr. Hamburger gently helps the students with math.
I love the evening schedule -- the announcements, and especially the end of the evening when each students stands and reports good news.
I love the quiet atmosphere when everyone is focused.
I love Ken Ward -- it's thanks to him that I became a partner.

I love Ms. Nichole's smile, and cheerful disposition. She is always willing to help.
I love Mr Ward and his amazing talks.
I love Ms. Katie (Alyia's mentor) she goes beyond in letting me know what's going on and always seeking advice to better her relationship with Alyia.
But most of all, I love that College Bound and I have the same agenda and working towards the same goal, not just to go to college but being prepared to stay!
Thank you for all you do.

I love what I learn during Good News - how some students struggle to think of what to mention, others have a triumph to share and all reveal something of themselves in the process.

I love college bound overall, but my respect goes toward my mentor Kyle he helped guide me through my complexities and now I am able to look at my future goals.

I love being able to celebrate the good news in the lives of more than 30 DC teenagers (at my site).

I LOVE College bound and I do not know where I would be without all of the love and support I have received from them. They encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, and achieve things that were originally beyond my belief. Mr. Ward is a huge support and truly is an investor in the education of DCPS students. College Bound is an amazing program and I encourage anyone in the DC area to participate in this life-enriching program. Upon my return to the states, I will become more active in the College Bound movement because like CB, I believe all students have the potential to succeed, all they need is a chance. Thank you CB for being apart of my life as a DCPS student and for your continued encouragement as a college graduate!
