Informational Interviews
One of the best ways to develop an understanding of a career path or field is speaking with someone already working there! We encourage all College Bound students to conduct informational interviews with people in industries or positions of interest. Finding these individuals may be a tricky prospect, so the College Bound staff is more than willing to help set something up should a student desire more information about an industry. Here are some tips for informational interviewing. Click here to message Owen Lanphear, program coordinator, and let him know that you would like to interview someone from a certain industry.
More Information on Specific Careers
A resource College Bound recommends for more information concerning specific careers and career paths is CollegeGrad.com. CollegeGrad is a great place to go if your student thinks that they would be interested in a specific job or career path (i.e. Accountant, Lawyer). By clicking on the career, you will see a brief overview of the job, the work environment, the steps required to hold the job, median salary, and more. Click here to check out CollegeGrad.com
Bureau of Labor Statistics
Though the name may sound dull, the BLS has plenty of great resources for career exploration! As the BLS is an official governmental body, the data presented on their pages is accurate, if slightly outdated. Click here for some helpful career clusters to narrow down your exploration.
