College Bound continues to supports its students after matriculating to a college or university through the Virtual mentoring Program (VMP). A new initiative of the VMP is to connect students, after they have declared a major, with professionals in their field of study to provide more targeted mentoring and career opportunities through a “Mentor Bank”. The Mentor Bank will be a pool of professionals from a wide variety of industries and academic backgrounds that will use their experiences to lend advice to VMP students. College students will be provided a mentor bank list with each individual’s alma mater, major, and career along with their email address. It is then the responsibility of the student to reach out to a mentor that can answer questions related to their college career or life after college.

College Bound emphasizes EDUCATION as the foundation for our partner-student relationships in the Academic Mentoring Program. Our focus on attending college gives these relationships a challenging but tangible and realistic goal.

A Public/Charter School student in the DC Metropolitan area
Enrolled in a grade between 8-10
Committed to going to college
Committed to attending weekly meetings
Committed to working with a partner (mentor)
